How long should a LinkedIn headline be?

You can use up to 220 characters. Use most of them, enough room for your role, who you help and a result, but keep it scannable with vertical bars.

Should I put "Open to work" in my headline?

Add it as a separate signal using LinkedIn’s "Open to work" feature rather than making it your entire headline. Your headline should still sell what you do.

How many keywords should a headline have?

Two or three real search terms is ideal. More than that starts to read like keyword stuffing and turns off human readers.

Can I use emojis or symbols in my headline?

A single separator like a vertical bar helps readability. Heavy use of emojis can look unprofessional and sometimes hurts clarity, so use them sparingly if at all.
